The Cafe Racer Project

Welcome all

This blog will record the trials and tribulations of three people who decide to turn a clapped out Yamaha FJ1100 motorbike into a cafe racer.

Ian: There is an old saying that goes something like .... "if it ain't broke; don't fix it". With our cafe racer project, I have replaced that old saying with a new one ... "if it is fixed; break it" ..... "and then try to fix it again" Apart from breaking things, I also like to paint but I’m not really sure I can claim to be an artist yet. In my head I’m still an apprentice, learning my craft, which just happens to be painting with watercolours. Besides painting and building a cafe racer, I like mowing the grass (for a start there is no smell like mown grass, but also the yard looks really nice and neat when I’m finished), a drink with friends, my dog Zack, hanging out with my wife, and keeping in touch with family and friends. I by the beautiful but treacherous, Moreton Bay. From our house we have, what the real estate agents call, a gun-barrel view of the Bramble Bay, which is part of the bigger Moreton Bay. Used to be a public servant but left that job about four years ago and now I'm trying all sorts of stuff to supplement our superannuation pensions. A final word .... there are so many good artists out their in internet-land and I have absolute admiration for all of you.
